Here comes the BOOM

What started off as a curious investment in an alternative Mario Party style game, Boom Street from the get-go impressed me. It has lots of fan service for both Mario and Dragon Quest games. I’m not even a big fan of Dragon Quest but I recognised songs and characters straight away. I really love the acknowledgement of Yoshi’s Island (the stage and the music throughout the game). The game itself is what I call a mature Mario Party, scrapping mini-games and adding more strategy. Kind of like Monopoly. I recommend to anyone who likes party games that don’t involve waggle controls and gimmicks.

Part 2 of the end of my life

It’s been nice knowing you guys. This can be the last video game ever and I’d be happy. Gold Wii Remote looks bare sick bruv. The CD is amazing. The game itself so far so good. Can’t wait to kill 100 hours on it. See you in another life brother!

VG Collection: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, The Last Window: The Secret of Cape West, Professor Layton and the Lost Future, Ivy The Kiwi?, Deadly Creatures, Left 4 Dead 2

I haven’t posted about my recent purchases in a long time so I thought I’d sum up the last month or so in a few posts.

I got a few games as presents this month, in which are all sequels to games I need to finish. Professor Layton and The Last Window are something I’ll do in due time but Left 4 Dead 2 is something I want start sooner. And hopefully get Xbox Live to play co-op.

I don’t need to say much about my 3DS purchase as I’ve spammed that enough. I will say it’s the best 3DS title so far and will be hard to beat!

Deadly Creatures is something I’ve been keeping my eye on and have finally bought it. It’s a very good game, especially if you are interested in insects and bugs. Ivy The Kiwi? is a great puzzle/platformer from the creator of Sonic. Won’t appeal to everyone but I’m enjoying so far.

No love for my broken PS3, I will fix you soon I promise! I will post about my downloaded purchases in another post.

VG Collection: Chrono Trigger

Square’s Chrono Trigger is another classic RPG that I have never played before. It has all the ingredients for an epic adventure. Virtual Console has been quiet recently. They need to release Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, been dying to play that for months and have resisted setting up my SNES.

VG Collection: Tatsunoku vs. Capcom Arcade Fightstick

Not that the Wii has many fighting games (ones that require an arcade stick anyway) but I’ve been on the look out for one for a while now. I love playing old arcade style games like Streets of Rage or Final Fight with an arcade stick, so getting this just for my Virtual Console collection is worth it. I have yet to try it out but from what I can tell it has a decent stick and nice buttons to mash on. This will be my first experience with a MadCatz arcade stick. Sorry Hori, love you forever still! What sold me on it (other than Chun-Li looking mighty fine) was that it plugs into the Wii Remote. Which means I can technically use it on my Mac or iPhone (jailbreak haha :)).

Altered Reset

Discovered one day when trying to input the cheat for Altered Beast. A split second of sound is leaked just after you hit reset. This is hilarious amongst me and my friends. Just shows you how strange our humour is. This seems to work with all Sega Mega Drive games downloaded on Virtual Console. It amazes me how after so many years, Altered Beast still finds new ways to make me laugh.
