VG Collection: Alleyway, Donkey Kong, Double Dragon, Kirby’s Dream Land, Super Mario Land, Tennis, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

A shit load of Game Boy games downloaded onto my 3DS. And more coming. Got to love Virtual Console. It’s nice to play old classics when you want a break from running around Hyrule. As you can see I’ve imported my DSiWare games too. Loving the 3DS, and this is only the beginning!

VG Collection: Chrono Trigger

Square’s Chrono Trigger is another classic RPG that I have never played before. It has all the ingredients for an epic adventure. Virtual Console has been quiet recently. They need to release Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, been dying to play that for months and have resisted setting up my SNES.

Now: PSN

PSN is back online. Hopefully you won’t see this image for a while. The PS Store is not available yet however. Well, time to tear it up with Mortal Kombat. All this time that the servers were down allowed me to master a few characters, so now playing online I am ready to face any jabroni who gets in my way. Also, this Friday, Wii owners are graced with the first worthy Virtual Console download in months. Chrono Trigger. How can I call myself a gamer when I haven’t even played this game? The Irate Turk (my cousin) has been telling me to play Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII for years. Japanese RPGs are serious.

VG Collection: Tatsunoku vs. Capcom Arcade Fightstick

Not that the Wii has many fighting games (ones that require an arcade stick anyway) but I’ve been on the look out for one for a while now. I love playing old arcade style games like Streets of Rage or Final Fight with an arcade stick, so getting this just for my Virtual Console collection is worth it. I have yet to try it out but from what I can tell it has a decent stick and nice buttons to mash on. This will be my first experience with a MadCatz arcade stick. Sorry Hori, love you forever still! What sold me on it (other than Chun-Li looking mighty fine) was that it plugs into the Wii Remote. Which means I can technically use it on my Mac or iPhone (jailbreak haha :)).

Altered Reset

Discovered one day when trying to input the cheat for Altered Beast. A split second of sound is leaked just after you hit reset. This is hilarious amongst me and my friends. Just shows you how strange our humour is. This seems to work with all Sega Mega Drive games downloaded on Virtual Console. It amazes me how after so many years, Altered Beast still finds new ways to make me laugh.

Virtual Console Is All I Need

Sonic in his 16-bit glory days

Tonight I thought screw it, let me download some classic games for my Wii. I went all 16-bit this time purchasing 3 games (2x SNES and 1x Mega Drive). As you can see I got Sonic & Knuckles, one of my favourite games ever. I also got Final Fight 3 and Super Castlevania. These 2 SNES games are ones I never played as a child but have always wanted to. I also recently purchased Excitebike: World Challenge, which is a fun remake of the original NES classic, with added online play. Probably the cutest game ever. It’s a lot of fun if you are an Excitebike fan.

In the shops, BioShock 2 stares at me in the face and asks “Why don’t you buy me? You know you want to!” Well listen, I’m skint right now, drop down in price and I’ll own you bitch. But who needs these new games, like this entries says, Virtual Console is all I need! 🙂

Those lucky Americans get Mega Man 10 on 1st of March. Damn, it’s getting too close, I need to finish Mega Man 9 soon. Dr Wily you punk!

If you own a Wii and haven’t explored the Wii Shop Channel, you need to. No one can be called a true gamer if they haven’t played some of the classic titles available.

Happy gaming people!

Update: With Sonic & Knuckles, you can lock-on any of the other previous Sonic games you have downloaded to it as you did with the original Mega Drive cartridges. Press (-) on the Wii remote to bring up the menu. 🙂
