Happy Birthday 3DS

It’s just been 1 year since the launch of my much beloved 3DS and I have 18 games and 54 downloaded games (including virtual console and ambassador games). Wow. It might be too soon to say but I think Kid Icarus: Rising is quickly becoming my favourite. But a quick look on the Activity Log shows what I’ve been playing the most, no surprises there.

I look forward to another great year of handheld gaming. Might pick up a PS Vita at some point to get my portable Mortal Kombat fix! ๐Ÿ™‚

The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony

Last night I arrived at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo with my bro Xavier Perez ready to see a musical masterpiece. Fans from all around Europe showed up. I picked up quite a number of StreetPass hits on my 3DS, Miis from Spain, Netherlands and wherever else. We saw a few cosplayers dressed up as Link, Zelda, Sheik etc. Saw someone with a Keaton mask (where is my local Happy Mask Shop?) and even a Minish cap.

The lobby was packed. People were playing Skyward Sword, I think they also had past Zelda titles there too. Paid ยฃ25 for a t-shirt (got bumped but how often do Nintendo do events like this?). Posters were ยฃ20, that was a bit much don’t you think? While upstairs, we recognised that chap from Xbox Live – MrPointyHead (I think that’s his name). What the hell was he doing there? He got caught!

We had some best seats as well. The concert was amazing. They played quite a few of my favourite pieces. We were surprised to see Zelda Williams (Robin Williams daughter) be the special guest host. She did a good job of winning the fans over. But the real surprise was when legend himself Koji Kondo came out and performed a piano solo. It was unbelievable. It was definitely the best concert/event I have ever been to. I loved it. Can’t wait to get the soundtrack with Skyward Sword.

VG Collection: Alleyway, Donkey Kong, Double Dragon, Kirby’s Dream Land, Super Mario Land, Tennis, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

A shit load of Game Boy games downloaded onto my 3DS. And more coming. Got to love Virtual Console. It’s nice to play old classics when you want a break from running around Hyrule. As you can see I’ve imported my DSiWare games too. Loving the 3DS, and this is only the beginning!

VG Collection: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, The Last Window: The Secret of Cape West, Professor Layton and the Lost Future, Ivy The Kiwi?, Deadly Creatures, Left 4 Dead 2

I haven’t posted about my recent purchases in a long time so I thought I’d sum up the last month or so in a few posts.

I got a few games as presents this month, in which are all sequels to games I need to finish. Professor Layton and The Last Window are something I’ll do in due time but Left 4 Dead 2 is something I want start sooner. And hopefully get Xbox Live to play co-op.

I don’t need to say much about my 3DS purchase as I’ve spammed that enough. I will say it’s the best 3DS title so far and will be hard to beat!

Deadly Creatures is something I’ve been keeping my eye on and have finally bought it. It’s a very good game, especially if you are interested in insects and bugs. Ivy The Kiwi? is a great puzzle/platformer from the creator of Sonic. Won’t appeal to everyone but I’m enjoying so far.

No love for my broken PS3, I will fix you soon I promise! I will post about my downloaded purchases in another post.
